Dialogue in the Dark :http://www.dialogue-in-the-dark.com/

At the beginning of this project, for helping students further understand the world of blindness, Professor Zinger took us to an exhibition: Dialogue in the Dark, which is an experience in total darkness, led by blind guides and trainers, one learns to interact and communicate by relying on other senses. At the end of the exhibition, we asked our guide about how they play with toys. The blind guide said she doesn’t play with architecture toys; she likes playing with toy cars and using cars to bump walls. Her answer makes me think about that if we have to design architecture toy for blind people, I should make the toy hard to throw down and can be rotated with their hands. That’s the reason I started my toy with joinable shape. Later, other classmates noticed my toy elements look like an alphabet, and then I started to combine the Braille system into my joinable elements. Finally, my architecture toy can be played with in multiple ways: construction mode, construction speed competition mode, writing mode, identification mode.
